In College Success subject, I had a group presentation with Barbara, Mary and Jean Marie. We had an agreement to meet once a week. In the meeting, each teammate would discuss and show our works. Each member would search on net to gain more information for her/him. Barbara was good at English; she would take care of checking all condensed information. I prepared the power point for presentation. Each member listened to another and respected her/his ideas. For example Barbara said she would like to cut this information because it did not need for this part. Three of us accepted right away. When my power point had done, I showed it to my teammate. Jean Marie or Mary thought she/he did not need this slide for some reasons. I would delete it. We worked in peacefulness and openness. We share our ideas to complete our presentation in the best way. Finally, we got grade A on our presentation. We were proud of ourselves.

I had learned working with others experience. I could apply it to my workplace in the future. Even though I had worked with other three teammates; it was a small group. However, I had learned how to support, how to share and co-operate with teammates to achieve a goal. It was a valuable experience.

I was interested in learning it. It was not easy to write a memo or letter concisely, but it covered up who, what, when, where and why. I felt very confident to learn it because Mrs. Walker always gave us some advices. She said that I could use vocabularies that I felt comfortable with. She said a business letter would not accept any grammar or spelling errors. I had six assignments during the semester. One of these assignments was hard. I had to write a letter to one Appliance Company for a replacement. The assignment assumed that my appliance had expired warranty, but it was broken. When I brought this assignment up Mrs. Walker, she smiled and explained it. She understood the assignment was not easy for me to write, for I had a different culture. However, as a customer, I had a right to write a letter to Application Company; they would have the way to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed writing the business letters. It provided me a potentiality on written business memo and letters. I could apply it to my work.

What topic should I choose for my presentation? I was confused, so I came over and asked my instructor for some advices. She said I could tell my classmate how I ended up today. I replied I was afraid of no one would be interested in that topic. Then she suggested I could talk about music or sport what I am good at. I said I was not good at these fields. She said I could tell a place where I wish to take a tour. At first, I thought it was fine to me. Then I realized I should not choose a topic that I had not been interested in. My presentation would be dry out. Finally, I made decision to introduce my first language (Vietnamese) in the presentation. I thought over how to make my classmates understand my presentation. I provide the Vietnamese Alphabet. I read the Alphabet by Vietnamese. I wrote an example on the board and explained the meanings of words. I thought if my classmates could not catch up my speaking, the example on the board would support my ideas. When I had done my presentation, my classmates gave me many questions. I felt happy because my classmates had followed up and understood my presentation.

All in all, I realize oral communication is a tool that I conveyed my information to my classmates. Otherwise, I had chosen the topic that I understood and felt comfortable with. It increased my confidence and enriched information in my presentation.

If I were an independent person, I would not be giving help to others. It was truth. I usually did Fundamental Accounting Principles homework by myself. When I learned it in the class, I could pick it up easily. Until I applied it to homework, I confronted too many problems. I read the text book or looked up from the notes to find out the way to solve the problem. Moreover, I usually lost my patience when it took a long time to complete that homework. The more I tried to finish my homework up as fast as possible, the more I got stuck. I was not satisfied. In addition, when I worked alone, it led me to poor communication. Sometimes I got the wrong answers because of I had not had anyone to check the answers. I thought an independent person gave me a strong feeling that I could do anything by myself, but it seemed I was a selfish person.

An interdependent relationship between people to the others provided many positive points. An interdependent relationship is very useful. Last week my class had the Business Math Assignment on which we worked individually. This assignment had a couple of unclearly worded problems. There wes confusion among the students in the class. Therefore, I and the other classmates were sitting down in group, and then we brought them up. We read through those questions.  We discussed the given data and which formula we should use to solve them. We shared our ideas on those problems. Because of each one of us picking at the questions, and the different of views, so each one of us saw those problems in various ways. Then I and my classmates went home and worked on those problems. Next day we took our solutions out and compared them. We would like to make sure we had the same answers, so we checked through all the processing again.

In conclusion, if anyone asked me what did I prefer to be independent or interdependent relationship? I would answer I preferred to be interdependent work. I could say that giving or receiving help was a useful processing and I realized that two or more people were always better than one person.
